Our work

A school that asks nothing of families except that their children show up

Established in 1999, Sunrise Foundation works in the Nagpada area of Mumbai, near Nagpada junction on Sophia Zuber Road. Today it runs a school with classes from 1st to 10th standard, open to children of every caste, creed and race.

Parents pay no fees. Students receive school bags, stationery, uniforms and nutritious meals, and the timetable makes room for yoga, physical training and basketball.

Through its initiative Shiksha Na Ruke, which means "let education not stop", the foundation helps children from difficult circumstances regain access to education and rebuild their lives.

What you fund

What your gift can support

Each option below reflects an appeal the foundation has made. Tell the team which one you want to support, or let them put your gift where the school needs it most.

Teacher and staff salaries

The school is run by a team of 18 trained teachers, supported by staff who keep it open every day. The foundation asks donors to help sustain their salaries so classes never stop.

School labs and resources

Through its Empower Education appeal, the foundation aims to equip school labs with essential resources. In August 2025 it shared a look inside the school's science and computer labs.

Food and daily essentials

Through its Nourish a Life appeal, the foundation provides food, hygiene kits and daily essentials to underprivileged families who need support.

Donor questions

Before you give

Straight answers, based on what the foundation has published. Anything else, ask on WhatsApp.

Is my donation eligible for a tax deduction?

The foundation states that it holds 80G and 12A registration, which makes donations eligible for tax benefits.

Deductions are generally available only under the old tax regime, and cash gifts above ₹2,000 do not qualify. Share your full name, address, PAN and transfer reference with the team so they can report your gift and issue your donation certificate, which is usually issued after the financial year ends. For your own situation, check with a tax adviser.

How will my donation be used?

You can ask for your gift to support teacher and staff salaries, school labs and resources, or food and daily essentials for families, or let the foundation decide where it is needed most.

Your chosen cause reaches the team when you share your transfer details with them, so remember to mention it.

How do I donate right now?

Choose an amount and a cause, then press donate to see the foundation's bank details. Transfer by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS from your bank app, then share the transfer reference with the team on WhatsApp. You can also send a cheque payable to "Sunrise Foundation".

Do parents pay any school fees?

No. The school does not charge parents any fees. Students receive school bags, stationery, uniforms and nutritious meals, and the school welcomes children of all castes, creeds and races.

Where is the school, and can I visit?

The foundation works mainly in the Nagpada area of Mumbai, near Nagpada junction on Sophia Zuber Road. It invites donors to visit the school and see its work. Call or WhatsApp the team to plan your visit.

Who runs Sunrise Foundation?

The foundation was established in 1999 and is led by its President, Mr. Rehan Ahmed, with a seven member committee. You can reach the President on +91 98195 29977.

Can I give every month?

Yes. The foundation says a monthly donation of ₹1,000 can make a significant impact. You can set up a monthly standing instruction to the foundation's account in your bank app, then tell the team on WhatsApp so they know to expect it.

Can I get a refund?

The foundation's published terms follow a no refund policy once a transaction has been processed successfully. If a bank transfer fails, your bank returns it under its usual rules. Contact the team with your transfer reference if anything goes wrong, and check the amount and account details before you send.

Can I donate from outside India?

Please contact the team before giving from abroad. Foreign contributions to Indian NGOs need a separate FCRA registration, and this page cannot confirm it for the foundation.

Is it safe to donate through this page?

This page never asks for your card, UPI PIN or bank login, and it does not process payments. Money goes straight to the foundation, either by your own bank transfer or on its official payment page.
